§01The flow

Four steps. Always the same.

Speaking practice fails when learners freeze. We protect against the freeze with one fixed rhythm — every prompt, every level.

  1. 01

    Listen

Tap once to hear the example line at full speed. Tap again for half-speed if you need it.

  2. 02

    Shadow

Mouth the line under your breath. The waveform of the example shows the rhythm — match the peaks.

  3. 03

    Record

Tap the mic. A live waveform shows it's working. Tap again to stop. No long-press, no swipe.

  4. 04

    Compare

Your waveform appears under the example. Play yours, play example-then-yours, or re-record. You rate how it felt.

§02Prompt formats

Five formats. One for each exam task.

The inburgering speaking exam mixes formats. We practice each one with the same calm flow.

  • Listen, then say it back

Ik wil graag een afspraak maken.

  • Answer in your own words

Wat doet u in het weekend?

  • Describe what you see

Vertel wat u op deze foto ziet.

  • Read the passage out loud

De bus naar het centrum gaat ieder kwartier.

  • Short conversation

Goedemorgen, waarmee kan ik u helpen?

§03What we ship

What speaking practice does and doesn't.

Honest about what tech can and cannot tell you about your own voice.

We do this today
  • A high-quality Dutch example voice on every prompt, with half-speed playback.
  • Five prompt formats matched to the exam's speaking tasks.
  • You rate how it felt — Comfortable, Okay, Hard — and that drives the schedule.
  • Recordings stay on your phone unless you choose to save them.
  • A calm skip is always visible. Adults rage-quit before guessing.
Not today
  • We do not score your accent. Acoustic accuracy at that level is brittle, and it's not what the exam tests.
  • We do not give a pronunciation grade. We give you the comparison and trust your ear.
  • There is no AI conversation partner — yet. We're working on it; it isn't live.
§05FAQ

Questions about speaking practice.

  • 01

Why don't you score my pronunciation?

Honest answer: today's acoustic scoring is unreliable for adults speaking a second language with diverse first-language accents. We'd rather let you compare and decide than give a wrong number that you might believe.

  • 02

What if I don't allow the microphone?

You can still listen and shadow — recording is optional. We'll ask again next session, never nag.

  • 03

What if I'm in a noisy place?

We detect heavy background noise and offer to snooze the recording, or record anyway if you choose. No silent failures.

  • 04

Do the prompts match the exam?

The five formats — repeat, answer, describe, read aloud, dialogue — match the inburgering speaking exam tasks at A2 and B1.

  • 05

I get nervous speaking out loud.

Nothing is shared, nothing is broadcast, nothing is scored against other learners. Recordings stay on your phone unless you save them. Speaking is between you and the prompt.

  • 06

Does it work on any phone?

Any modern phone with a mic. We've tested on iPhone and recent Android. No app to install — runs in the browser.
