Lesson 11 · A2
Bij de huisarts — making an appointment
Now playing
ENListen for 'Ik wil graag een afspraak maken' — the polite 'I would like' you'll use all week.
NLIk wil graag een afspraak maken voor morgenochtend.
I'd like to make an appointment for tomorrow morning.
Four things each lesson does.
Borrowed from the Pimsleur tradition — bilingual instruction, spaced recall, native modelling — and tightened for the inburgering exam.
- 01
Bilingual instruction
An English instructor explains. A native Dutch voice models. You hear both in the same rhythm.
- 02
Recall prompts
The instructor pauses and asks you to say the Dutch line back. Out loud, in the car, no one is judging.
- 03
Spaced reentry
Phrases from week 1 come back in week 3, then week 7. The schedule is hidden — you just keep what you learn.
- 04
Real civic scenarios
Every dialogue happens in a real Dutch place — the GP, the gemeente, the school, the supermarket. Same vocabulary the exam tests.
A calmer Pimsleur, for this exam.
Pimsleur set the standard. We borrow the bilingual-spaced-recall method and tighten it to inburgering's scope.

Pimsleur remains the most rigorous bilingual audio method on the market. We are narrower — one exam — and tied to the rest of the suite.

Questions about audio courses.
01
Which level should I start with?
If you don't have a Dutch level yet, start with A1. The placement test inside the app maps you in five minutes if you'd rather not guess.
02
How clear are the Dutch voices?
The Dutch dialogue voices are high-quality Dutch voices — clear, paced for learners, and used consistently across courses. The English instructor is a clear, neutral voice — easy to follow if English is also your second language.
03
How long is each lesson?
Twenty to thirty minutes — the length of an average commute or school-run. Long enough to do real work, short enough to fit in a real life. Built for daily practice.
04
How is this different from Pimsleur?
Same method (bilingual, spaced recall). Different scope: every dialogue is built around the inburgering exam — the gemeente letter, the GP appointment, the school form — not a tourist phrasebook.
05
Can I read along?
Yes. Every course has a full transcript with translations. Tap a word to see meaning, hear it, and save it to your flashcards.
06
Can I download for offline listening?
Not yet. Offline downloads are on the road map — today the player streams. A connection is needed.
